Using this I control the water used very nicely, I can garauntee that by filling my buckets and rinsing by throwing 10L water bombs over the car I will probably use more water than before. I wonder if I prove my point how that would stack up in court if I decided to save water by using my hosepipe to wash the car during a ban. Many people are saying the same thing and I know Auto Express have recently printed an article suggesting much more water is used when washing with buckets.

I can collect a large water butt FULL of water in 10 minutes of average rainfall from only part of my roof area. Each water company has their own rules about allotments so the best thing to do would be to contact your local water company directly and ask them. But as far as I know this would only be considered if there is a general hosepipe ban in your area first. I heard there is going to be a hosepipe ban on allotments this year, can you tell me if this is correct and if so, when it will come into force. One of the major car magazines carried out a controlled test a little while ago and proved conclusively that using a hosepipe with a trigger control head is much more economical of water use than doing the equivalent wash and rinse using buckets.
